Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime
28th to 31st May 2014
Performances took place at St. John’s Church Hall
This play is an adaptation of an 1890's story by Oscar Wilde that follows Lord Arthur Savile's predicament after a chiromantist predicts he will commit murder. Engaged to Sybil Merton, Lord Arthur is determined to fulfill this dark prophecy before marrying for a happy life. With the dubious assistance of his butler and a whimsical anarchist, Winkelkopf, Lord Arthur's attempts at murder comically fail. Just as he discovers the fraudulence of the chiromantist, an unexpected event involving Winkelkopf's invention adds chaos. Amidst the mayhem, Lord Arthur narrowly avoids disaster by disposing of the bomb, only to face arrest by the authorities. The wedding rehearsal is once again postponed, leaving Lord Arthur in a bewildering situation.
