Sheila’s Island is a sharp, fast-paced comedy about four middle-aged women whose team-building weekend goes spectacularly wrong.
Sheila, Julie, Denise and Fay set off on what is meant to be a character-building exercise in the Lake District. Armed with corporate jargon, forced enthusiasm and varying levels of outdoor competence, they attempt to kayak to a small island. When a simple mishap leaves them stranded, the carefully constructed hierarchies of the office begin to crumble.
Cut off from comfort, communication and control, the women are forced to confront not only the elements but each other. Petty grievances surface, loyalties shift, and long-suppressed frustrations explode in a battle for survival — and superiority. As hunger, cold and exhaustion set in, the thin veneer of professionalism gives way to something far more primal.
Both biting satire and physical farce, Sheila’s Island explores friendship, rivalry and the fragile nature of authority, asking what remains when status is stripped away and survival becomes the only goal.
