Hay Fever
2nd to 4th November 1977
Performances took place at St. John’s Church Hall
Hay Fever, a long-lasting comedy by Noël Coward, entertains audiences with witty insights on family dynamics.
Set in the Bliss family home over a weekend, the retired actress Judith, her writer husband David, and their grown children Simon and Sorel each invite guests without others knowing. Chaos ensues as guests and family clash dramatically. Although Judith is said to have left the stage, the weekend turns into her personal drama with her family as co-stars. The eccentric Bliss family enjoy provoking each other, leading to humorous and absurd situations with their guests. Eventually, the guests leave due to the strange behavior, unnoticed by the Bliss family absorbed in their own disputes. Despite fewer one-liners, Hay Fever humorously portrays a dysfunctional family oblivious to their rude conduct.
