Dowdy Mr. Brown and his daughter Nonnie make a surprising entrance at a seaside boarding house, known for hosting theatrical guests. They find themselves taken aback by the carefree and unconventional behaviors of the other residents. Amidst the quirky mix of characters, David, the charming yet mischievous secretary to the fading star Laurette, takes an interest in Nonnie, much to the dismay of his mother, Laurette. As the evening unfolds, Mr. Brown, known for his abstinence from alcohol, unexpectedly finds himself in high spirits after sharing a drink with a fellow guest, leading to a reckless decision of sending a resignation telegram impulsively. Simultaneously, David seizes the opportunity to propose to Nonnie, but after careful consideration, Nonnie realizes their differences and opts to stay true to her beloved back in London. The plot thickens when Mr. Brown stumbles upon the untouched resignation telegram, restoring order just in time as they bid adieu to the eclectic boarding house, marking the end of their unforgettable stay.
